September 26, 2002
- The Government of Japan welcomes the recent presentation of the Belize-Guatemala Territorial Differendum Proposals by the Organization of American States (OAS) and pays tribute to the efforts so far by the OAS, the Facilitators and the Governments of Belize and Guatemala.
- The Government of Japan expects that both Belize and Guatemala will overcome difficulties and continue efforts toward a peaceful and permanent resolution of the dispute, based on the Proposals, and it believes that such an attempt for the settlement of the issue will greatly contribute not only to the stability and development of two countries but also to those of the region as a whole.
