Statement by the Press Secretary/Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the Situation in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia

  1. The Government of Japan welcomes the adoption by the Macedonian parliament of the fifteen laws required to implement the Framework Agreement, recognizing this as a step forward in the peace process.

  2. Japan expects that those concerned will sincerely deal with the remaining tasks including the amendment of the law on passport, and take prompt and sufficient steps in the future.

  3. Based upon the recognition that the stability and prosperity of this country are essential for the stability and prosperity of the whole Southeastern Europe, Japan will continue to cooperate with the international community for its stability and prosperity.
