Statement by the Press Secretary/Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the Agreement on Establishing Transitional Government at the National Dialogue in the Democratic Republic of Congo

  1. The Government of Japan welcomes the agreement on establishing a transitional government in the Democratic Republic of Congo which was reached at the National Dialogue held in Pretoria, Republic of South Africa, as it is regarded as a significant step toward national reconciliation and the consolidation of peace in the country.
        The Government of Japan also highly evaluates the efforts of all the people concerned who contributed to achieving this agreement, including measures taken by South Africa, the United Nations, and the international community in general.

  2. The Government of Japan hopes that all the parties concerned will sincerely continue exerting efforts toward the realization of peace in the country, based on this agreement to establish the transitional government.
