Statement by the Press Secretary/Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the Situation in Croatia and Yugoslavia

  1. The Government of Japan welcomes the signature of the Protocol between the Republic of Croatia and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia on the temporary regime of the Prevlaka Peninsula on December 10. This agreement is an important step toward the full normalization of relation between the two countries and stability in the whole region.

  2. Japan strongly hopes that the Governments of Croatia and Yugoslavia will continue their efforts toward a peaceful solution of their remaining problems stemming from the conflict, contributing to the stability and development of the Southeastern Europe.
