Statement by the Press Secretary/Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the Situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina

- The Government of Japan welcomes the fact that a government comprising non-nationalist parties has been established in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the first time since the Bosnian conflict broke out in 1992.
- Japan strongly hopes that the new government of Bosnia and Herzegovina will tackle even more positively economic reform, repatriation of refugees and displaced persons, and various reforms including the improvement and consolidation of government organizations, which are priority matters in achieving peace.
- Japan has been engaged in various issues concerning Southeastern Europe, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the recognition that they are matters of global influence. Japan intends to continue to cooperate with this region, in concert with the international community, for its stability.
