Statement by the Press Secretary/Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Municipal Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina
April 11, 2000
- The Government of Japan welcomes the fact that municipal elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina were implemented on April 8 generally in a fair and peaceful manner, as it shows the steady progress in peace implementation in the country.
- While it is necessary to wait for the counting of votes by the Mission of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) to Bosnia and Herzegovina to be completed in order to see the final results of the elections, the Government of Japan strongly hopes that the parties concerned will implement the results faithfully and promptly.
