2000 Japanese Government Study Tour Program for Government Officials from Central and Eastern Europe

December 8, 2000

  1. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will invite to Japan 11 middle-ranking and junior government officials in charge of policy planning and implementation from Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania from December 10 (Sun) to 18 (Mon), under the 2000 Japanese Government Study Tour Program for Working-level Government Officials from Central and Eastern Europe.

  2. During their stay in Japan, the officials will receive a three-day training course at a Japanese company (NKK Corporation) on the theme of "an introduction to a Japanese company model from the viewpoint of human resources". They will receive lectures in such fields as Japanese culture and trade, visit facilities in Tokyo, and have a regional tour.

  3. This invitation program has been implemented since FY1991 as part of Japan's intellectual assistance to the reform of Central and Eastern European countries for democratization and a market economy. It is expected that a working-level exchange with middle-ranking and junior officials will promote mutual understanding and trust between Japan and these participating countries.
