On the Situation of Niger

  1. It is deplorable that President Mainassara Bará of Niger, who had been elected by a democratic process, was deprived of his presidency by a violent act of assassination. Japan strongly hopes that Niger's democratic process will be restored as soon as possible.

  2. Japan intends to carefully reexamine its economic cooperation with Niger in light of the ODA Charter, closely watching the ensuing political and social developments in the country hereafter.
